Ho HO and yo Yo! It's the holiday season again and while I know you must be busy please remember to wind down a bit and time for yourself. How about even get a "little" gift for yourself this year? Me, Rudolph, elves and the Santa themselves know that you've been a good boy (and girl!) this year.

We all here think that you need some extra fun - you've deserved it and you've deserved the best! Lets take a deep breath and sooth our souls with two great if not large gifts that I am sure will make you (and therefore your family too) more than happy!

My personal favorites this year? Well it is a winter time and we've all had our share of snow fall already.. So my pick would be a REAL monster truck! Those won't stuck in the snow banks easily. For Dad and Mom I would get a Savage X or even Savage XL and for kids Maverick Quantum Monster Trucks.. or maybe even one of those magnificent Team Corally Bashers if they've been really good!

Mad Santa

The prophecy has been fulfilled and mythical yet glorious giant HPI Baja 5B Off-Road Buggy has been released again! This 1:5 scale, over 80cm long and almost ten kilos weighing petrolhead is one of the most iconic and important legends of RC world.

Baja 5B was one of the first credible gasoline powered RC buggies and now it is finally available after a long wait! Latest version has been also updated to meet standards of today and is equipped with upgrade parts such as Sway Bars, 9mm thick HD driveshafts and beefy HD-steel wheel hubs.

What is best in new Bajas is that they are available only in builder kits! Finally something real and interesting to build in your workshop this winter! From Baja 5B we have two different kits available. One finishes out as Gasoline Engine -ready car and from another you build a platform that can be run with larger scale brushless electric motor.

Unlike yesterday, now we have electronics powerful enough to speed this thing up to fast speed but there is something.. just something very tempting in the gasoline version..!

These kits are delivered without any included engines or electronic parts so there is lots of room for you to play here! Also the included body panels are unpainted.

I think it is time to take the Santa Hats off and nod gently to direction of HPI Racing for this culturally significant re-release!

Xtreme Xmas

Another miracle of the Christmas is Traxxas 1:5 XTR, Extreme Racing Truck. Coincidence with HPI Baja or not, maybe the larger scale cars are also making a silent comeback?

Unilke HPI kits, the XRT is Ready to Rumble straight out from the box what is typical for Traxxas cars. Only things missing are the batteries and charger but hey who would not have few extra 4S batteries with Traxxas connectors lying around! So this beast is full 8S ready and should be respected as such.

New King of The Truggies hit easily top speeds of almost 100km/h so it is really a Big Boys (or girls!) Toy in the very meaning of the name. XTR shares a lot of DNA with XMaxx that's known as biggest and most beautiful of all monster trucks but there are lots of different, too.

Waltz of The Monsters. Together these trucks make "X-Truck 8S"-family.

XRT is equipped with WideMaxx suspension arms from the factory and is significantly wider and rides lower. New, longer bathtub style chassis is also renewed. Sweet detail is the V-shaped cooling heat sink of the brushless Velineon VXL 8S speed control.

If you ask from the Bad Santa, Extreme Pick Up Racing Truck is perfect car for beginners to start this hobby! But please drive it from the safe distance because when this almost eight kilos weighing evil spirit hits your knees at speed of one hundred it may hurt a bit!

Own Gift, Best Gift!

Sure the Xmas season is the season of giving. Therefore it is not wrong to give something for yourself, too! Let's take for example my good buddy Ville-Veikko. He has been a good boy for many years now so he awarded himself with a top-of-the-shelf Yokomo YD-2ZX graphite chassis drift car kit. What would be more suitable for pure RWD dirfter than good old Volvo 240 body!

So be more like Ville-Veikko and get yourself only the best! Remember that poor guy can never afford buy cheap and with "good and quality" the hobby itself gives more back to you.
