Latest Kits Insight - Hobby Letter #2/22

Hey it's Heikki from EuroRC Warehouse and today we listen through the grapewine and imagine what the Future of RC will look like.

These days are traditionally the time of the year when RC Manufacturers push out new releases for coming season. Secrets and hearsays are important part of this hobby and industry sure knows this. Rather than just releasing the new hot turk, manufacturers (or us evil spirited marketing guerillas!) tease you weeks before with mysterious blurry pictures and clickbaity topics creating the buzz. While some think its bit annoying, I like it. We are just people and we love rumors and excitement!

Here are some RC Kits that are just out or expected to be released during next few months:

Faster! Harder! Sketer!

Everyday the Bashing Crowd gets bigger and louder! They are hungry for more speed. They demand more aggressive stunts and cry for more carnage! Could the Team Corallys all-new Sketer 4S Bashing Monster be answer for their prayers? We just received these in our shop and I had to open up one just to take a peek.. and wow, this thing is just one Absolute Unit.

I can already hear the fanboy army starting to load up their guns but before you shoot the messenger, check out some of these selected specs:

• Aluminum Chassis with robust Center Brace
• Big Bore Shocks from 1/8 buggies
• New 4x Stronger Steering Hubs
• 5mm (!) Thick aluminum Shock Towers

Overall the general feel what I get from this truck is more than strong. Sketer seems to be really built to give and receive some good old fashioned beating! I've had more than fun with my Team Corally Shogun 6S and I know what they are capable of. They can be too powerful and wild for many, that is for sure!

Sketer 4S is meant to be competing against other 1/10 bashers such as Maxx, Granite and Tekno MT420 but when I look at this.. uh, the other ones just make me feel old man! Sketer is what Real Basher today should be and not some lame buggy with a big tires.

Sure, everything can be broken if you really try or not know how to drive but it seems that Corally has built up a rig that is still bashing after the nuclear war. New transmitter has also better adjustments and fits nicely in to my bulky northern hand!

Up In Smoke

It has been delightful to notice new rise of the Nitro powered cars and trucks! It was not so long ago when some people were already digging graves for combustion engine powered RC. Oh how the tides change! Nitro is not for everyone but many silently know that it is a only real way to spin those tires.

HPI Racing is about to release an icon of its time - Subaru Impreza 2001 WRC and for pleasure of many it will be on the famous 1:8 scale HPI WR8 -four wheel shaft driven chassis! Based on HPI Bullet, the WR8 has proven its race capability long time ago both Off and On-Road surfaces. Folks at HPI say that WR8 has been very much wanted back and they have heard your call!

Really! Year is 2022 and you can soon get a brand new nitro powered rally car! Kicked by almost 3hp Nitro Star G3.0 engine this fully assembled rally beast should have no problems to find a new home. While writing this it seems that there will be also brushless 4000kv Flux version for us puss.. Whooops! *Scratching noises*

Age of e-Tron

Call be nuts but I somehow like this timeline we are in. Of course, would be nice if we could all agree for some basic things together but yeah - this is definitely Time of Extremes. On the other hand we want things to be how they were "Back in the good old days". This is why we have a big wave in nostalgia that dilutes down for example to the renaissance of Nitro Engines. Tamiya Retro-kits are also a huge huge seller.

On the other hand, many of us are looking beyond the horizon towards the Magnetic Fields of the Future. While you cannot turn back the wheel of the time, what I want is that everyone can still play in the same sandpit even if not exactly agreeing about everything.

HPI Racing knows the world we are living in and while they are pushing their combustion line back on track (can we even see a.. reincarnation of HPI Baja soon?) they are looking onward for tomorrow. To underline this they are soon releasing a Full-Electric Racing Concept Car based Audi e-Tron Vision GT on hard boiled RS4 Sport-3 chassis. While original one has three electric motors and power of mighty 600kW, this 1:10 sized RC version is promised to be able hit the speed of 113km/h. Muy rápido! No?

Audi drivers take patience if you know what it means - we should have these at our shop maybe in a month! Well done again, HPI Racing!

Stop the Press! Extra! Extra!

One of the biggest and beautiful, Nürnberg International Toy Fair was unfortunately cancelled again this year thanks to the long recovery from shock waves of pandemia. Tamiya did the right thing and released all of their Spring Collection 2022 at the same time. These beauties and beasts were supposed to be published at the said toy fair this weekend.

What especially catches my eye is the Alpine A110 M-06 - this time in Jägermeister livery. I am not alone with the idea that A110 is hands down one of the most beautiful cars ever made. And it has history in Rally! Lets hope that we get these in the shop as quick as possible - not that I would like to build one of those or that short wheelbase CC-02 Bronco'21 myself, no.. not at all!

Other releases include the return of one of the most famous RC kits, Tyrrell P34 Six-Wheeler 1977 Formula car and Mercedes prototype C11.

Competition level racers may enjoy the new Tamiya Racing Factory TRF 420x -chassis that seems to be completely machined out from carbon fibre. Top-of-the-shelf TRF-professional level kits are real thing in the track and should never be overlooked in the Touring class.

This full-breed racing chassis should be out end of the April. Meanwhile you can enjoy many of the new features in already released TA-08 Pro Chassis Kit. New version of Tamiyas better rally chassis XV-02 was also announced - and this time it is shaft driven what definitely is much better for rally business.

Spring is Around The Corner

There's more news coming up during next weeks from the manufacturers for sure. We also have some great new stuff here at the shop such as these very cool Scale.. Oh! I would love to tell you more but my charger beeps and I must go bashing immediately. Eat, RC, Sleep. You know!

Here in Finland we had massive snow fall last week and more is promised! I like this season because I am not very good RC driver to be honest. Fresh snow offers perfect, cushy platform for me to practice my landings. Not-so-good thing is that cold air weakens the plastic parts and they lose their flex. Especially printed bodies are having hard time in these temps.
