Springtime Services - Hobby Letter #9/21

9.3.2021

Hello It's Heikki from EuroRC whats up! Springtime is finally rising in the horizon here in the north too so today is the perfect day to give your beloved RC some attention it deserves. Yes, it sure is perfect time to perform some annual maintenance for your cars! They give you much joy so give them much love. Get on it now because the summer is here in no time! This issue often hits much to the area of "things that everyone knows but no one really does". Be honest here, when was the last time you did some service for your trucks? If you are one of the few who really takes care of your RC good for you and respects! What about me? Well.. I think I really should soon get on it for some of my older trucks. Some overhauling would be definitely needed as I can actually hear the bearings rusting away..! Thanks to our wonderful team, we have collected some basic maintenance tricks under one article, you can read it here by following this link!

Take your time

For most of us like me RC is a hobby and should be respected as is. It is not something that is always in my mind and things tend to forget. I try to keep up with the basics like keeping my RC clean and dry after the runs and put the batteries in storage. Most of my cars are scale off-road trucks so a little drop of oil for rotating parts sometimes and checking out the screws now and then is pretty much all I do for my cars regularly.

Full service can really take some time so it may be a good idea to service one area at the time. You can do shocks today and prepare them ready with new gaskets and oils for tomorrow. Pop that differential open, clean it and fill it up following these instructions here but assemble it back to the car later when you have time. Amount of tiny little things in the table stays under control when you cut your project down to smaller tasks. Remember to take lots of pictures for memories and to share them in our Instagram and Facebook! #eurorc #euroc_warehouse #eurorcturku

Make a List

For comp guys lists and documentation are essential and part of the job. We hobbyists can learn from their tricks! It may be a good idea to take a piece of paper and write up what your car has in its current setup. Have you read your manual? There is often some empty pages or even templates included where you can put things up! What oil was in the front diff? Eight similar shocks? What was in them? What parts you have installed and found better than stock ones and stuff like that!

Documentation and updated information gives some extra value if you sell your truck some day too. Make a list of the spares you regularly need and keep it with the car. This makes ordering the new parts faster when you know exactly what part number fits. No need for Big Brain time when you have everything written down!

Make a Wishlist

Try to keep it all in your head or more preferably save remarks and links of everything interesting a in a file on your smart phone or computer. Today the market is full of everything custom so it is hard to remember what rare piece from completely another end of RC hobby does the job needed. Save your links! My wishlist? I have too many kits in line waiting but really looking forward for Tamiyas Fighting Buggy re-release. It is just too tempting and Santa is back in quarantine. Maybe Easter Bunny could help! Check out what else Tamiya is up to this year from their press release.

Take care and remember to stay positive in these masked times!

Yours truly,

Heikki from EuroRC
